UEFA - Respect Diversity

FARE’s Euro 2012 activities are part of UEFA’s wider RESPECT programme for the tournament.

This also includes initiatives under the headings of Respect Fan Culture, a fan embassies project with Football Supporters Europe (FSE), with the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFÉ) to open up accessibility for disabled fans, and Respect Your Health a project led by StreetFootballWorld to encourage healthy lifestyles.

The Respect Diversity – Football Unites activities will run throughout the tournament, culminating in the semi-finals where the captains of all four semi-final teams will deliver anti- discrimination messages and other messages.

To help raise awareness of ‘Respect Diversity’, UEFA has launched the ‘Exchange Your Jersey’ initiative. For more details about how to get involved, click here.

For the first time, Euro 2012 has been designated as a tobacco free tournament, and the sale, promotion and use of tobacco will be banned both inside the stadiums and in the surrounding areas.

UEFA is also keen to use the tournament to promote a safe sex message, and asking fans to play it safe by using condoms to ‘Show HIV and AIDS the red card’.
